Frequently asked questions

What is Golden Sound-Light Crossing?

GSLC’s core service is a continuous 50-day programme for the departed. It draws on Chinese Mahayana and Tibetan Vajrayana practice, with personalised chanting, mantra, visualisation and dedication. Its spiritual intention is to support the deceased towards a peaceful transition.

Why 50 days rather than 49?

Fifty days is the practitioner’s chosen complete ritual cycle for this programme. It is specific to GSLC and does not replace the 49-day observances followed in some Buddhist traditions. The starting date and completion date are confirmed when you arrange the service.

Are ongoing offerings required after completion?

No. GSLC does not require continued long-term ritual offerings after the 50-day programme. Families may continue prayers, offerings or remembrance according to their own beliefs and wishes.

Can families of other races or faiths enquire?

Yes. Families of any race or cultural background are welcome to enquire, including Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian families. The service draws on Buddhist practice. We discuss arrangements with respect for the deceased’s beliefs and the family’s wishes.

How do I request the 50-day programme?

Email or call us with the name of the person you wish to remember and your preferred starting date. We can discuss the programme and confirm the arrangements before you proceed.

Can I enquire from overseas?

Yes. Email us with the service you are interested in, your country and your preferred way to be contacted. We can discuss the available participation arrangements with you.

What is the recommended offering?

Families of all financial backgrounds are welcome to discuss their circumstances. Ask about the offering and arrangements for your chosen service before deciding. Separate meritorious offerings are voluntary and may be made according to your means.

What information should I prepare?

Include your name, contact details, the service you are interested in and the names of anyone you wish to include in the dedication. If you have a preferred date or a question about the ceremony, let us know.
